Recently relocated from South Florida to Brooklyn, Blonds’ Cari Rae and Jordy Asher (neither of whom are actually blonde) are gaining notice for their soulful indie dream pop. Their “Dark Roots” EP was recorded in one weekend at home in fall of 2011 and emailed to Stereogum on a whim; the blog opened their email thinking it was from electronic group Blondes with an “e.” Still, this moment of kismet let to Stereogum anointing them a “Band to Watch,” effectively transforming the unknown duo into blogosphere royalty overnight.

Rae and Asher seized this opportunity to make the move north to work on their debut full-length. Produced by Nicolas Vernhes (Dirty Projectors, Spoon, Deerhunter, Animal Collective), “The Bad Ones” is set to be released August 7th, 2012. Described by Paste Magazine as “slow burning, intimate pop” and Deli Magazine as “almost Lynchian” in atmosphere, the group’s dramatic bedroom pop sounds unlike anything else being released.
