NoHo Gallery LA announces their "Black History Month" show. The purpose of Black History Month is to promote awareness of African American history to the general public, "a history filled with the tales of inspiring individuals-many of whom overcame great odds to leave their mark on the United States as well as abroad."

NoHo Gallery LA annually celebrates Black History Month Art by presenting artists who portray the history, the current state of affairs and the future direction of Black & Afro-American Art.

Statement from the gallery: "We are pleased to present two featured artists: Neneki "Nick" McGee who will paint live during the reception and featured photographer Gregory Prescott. In addition, NuKola Herndon will perform two sets of musical poetry in the theatre. Scottie Austin will take us into the world of Billie Holiday singing the blues along with jazz guitarist Tim Moran in the lounge area."

WHO: Neneki "Nick" McGee, Gregory Prescott with Amos Harper, Buena Johnson, Leland Sharp, NuKola Herndon, Ortie Rainford, Otha "Vakseen" Davis III, Pamela "Frison" Robinson and more.

About Neneki "Nick" McGee
"He is a self-taught artist from Los Angeles whose passion for art and sheer talent resulted in sales of his drawings while he was still in elementary school. As a teenager, Neneki began to airbrush portraits of iconic pop stars like Michael Jackson and hip hop legend Tupac Shakur, not knowing that his ability to render life-like, nearly 3D images on canvases, clothing, shoes and even skateboards would garner him awards and an international fan base."

"Neneki's artwork has been featured in music videos, photo shoots, and his airbrushed clothing designs have been featured on televised episodes of WWE's SmackDown and WWE's SuperStars. With almost two million "hits," Neneki's website, www.Artistic-Graphics.com, has attracted a global clientele stretching across the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. His fine art has been featured in art galleries throughout Los Angeles, and in 2009 he was one of a select group of artists invited to participate in "Colors to Life Beautiful" a thematic art show inspired by Alice Walker's "The Color Purple" which ran in conjunction with the Los Angeles tour of Oprah Winfrey's "The Color Purple" Musical."

"In the dynamic world of airbrush design and contemporary fine art, Neneki strives to grow and develop his versatility and client base with an increasing array of digital art, lay-outs, and commercial printing. And while his school days may be long over, Neneki is developing a program to work with youth so they might also discover what happens when desire and talent meet!"

The artist states: "I use my camera like a paintbrush, to create beautiful images of the male and female form. With inspiration from Herb Ritts and Andreas Bitesnich, my mission is to diversify the cultural spectrum in fine art photography, with classic and timeless pieces. I am an emerging, self-taught photographer residing in Los Angeles, CA, that has spent the majority of my life in Houston, TX. My work consists of an array of photographs of portraits and nudes. I find it interesting to create art using live figures. With my work, I allow everyone to see the true and outstanding beauty of a woman's curves, the fullness of her lips, the textures of her hair and the grace in the extensions of her arms. I also display the broadness in the man's back, the signs of struggle in his shoulders and the determination in his eyes. In my photographs, one may witness the essence, sensuality, strong structure and power of the body with the use of passion but without the use of excessive sexuality. I hope that with my photographs, people should be able to further extend their appreciation of the body and see that all people are sensual creatures; sensual creatures with a vast array of skin tones. My photographs have successfully embraced both the inner and outer beauty of men and women. GOD is the true artist. I am the channel."
