Billy Porter, Storm Large, and More Join the New York Pops in 2018-19 Season at Carnegie Hall

The New York Pops, today announces its 2018-19 season of six performances in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The orchestra is led by charismatic Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, who this year celebrates his tenth season with the orchestra.

The orchestra opens its 2018-19 season on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. with Roll Over Beethoven: A Different Kind of Orchestra, a program that includes the greatest hits of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Beatles, featuring three-time Las Vegas "Headliner of the Year" Frankie Moreno.

On Friday, November 16, 2018 at 8:00 p.m., The New York Pops is spotlighted in Song and Dance: The Best of Broadway together with Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, and the New York Theatre Ballet, under the artistic leadership of Diana Byer. The concert includes favorite moments from the musical theatre canon, including compositions by Leonard Bernstein, Richard Rodgers, and Jule Styne.

The New York Pops reunites with guest artist and Broadway favorite Ashley Brown (Broadway's original Mary Poppins) and Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA on Friday, December 21, 2018 and Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. for Under the Mistletoe, a festive program of classic and contemporary carols.

Tony and Grammy Award winner Billy Porter is featured with The New York Pops in Unforgettable: Celebrating Nat King Cole and Friends on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. in honor of the renowned singer and jazz pianist's centennial, performing his beloved standards together with special selections by the fellow legends he inspired.

On Friday, March 15, 2019 at 8:00 p.m., guest artists Storm Large, Ashley Park, Ryan Shaw, and Ryan Silverman join The New York Pops for Movie Mixtape: Songs from the Silver Screen with music spanning soundtracks that have captivated generations of movie lovers.

The musicians of this orchestra are incredibly talented, and the guest artists joining us this year are stellar performers, each and every one. Single tickets for all 2018-2019 performances will go on sale to Carnegie Hall subscribers and members on August 21 at 8:00 a.m., and to the general public on August 28 at 8:00 a.m.

The New York Pops is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States, and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Under the leadership of dynamic Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, The New York Pops continues to re-imagine orchestral pops music. The orchestra performs an annual subscription series and birthday gala at Carnegie Hall and a summer series at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY. The New York Pops is dedicated to lifelong learning, and collaborates with public schools, community organizations, children's hospitals and senior centers throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Steven Reineke is the Music Director of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Principal Pops Conductor of the Houston Symphony and Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and has been on the podium with the Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia. His extensive North American conducting appearances include Seattle, Edmonton and Pittsburgh. As the creator of more than one hundred orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and the composer of symphonic and wind ensemble compositions, Mr. Reineke's work has been performed worldwide.
