Broadway and movie star Bette Midler will be reissuing her 1980 memoir A VIEW FROM A BROAD today, April 1, complete with a new introduction.

The book chronicles her life on the road during her first world tour, before BEACHES.

It is described on Amazon as: "Grammy award-winning singer, Academy Award-nominee, Broadway star of her critically acclaimed one-woman show and beloved actress in The Rose, Beaches and Down and Out in Beverly Hills-Bette Midler is a household name whose career and fans span generations. In A View from a Broad, originally published in 1980, Bette relives her career through memories of endless rehearsals, her fear of flying, crazy schedules and wisdom she learned from Thai Gondoliers, with the trademark razor-blade wit that her fans have grown to know, love and expect. Filled with photographs, a new introduction and heartwarming stories that highlight only a portion of a brilliant career, A View from a Broad is the perfect gift for anyone who loves music, theater or just plain fun-and will be cherished by the fans of Divine Miss M for years to come."

Following this year's "In Memorium" segment at the Oscars, Midler sang a moving version of her classic ballad "Wind Beneath My Wings". Midler received Oscar nominations for Actress in a Leading Role for "For the Boys" and The Rose." She has recorded 13 studio albums, the first of which, 1972's "The Divine Miss M," sold over a million copies and earned her a Grammy for Best New Artist. Midler has gone on to sell over 30 million albums worldwide and win two additional Grammys for the songs "The Rose" (Best Female Pop Vocal Performance) and "Wind Beneath My Wings" (Record of the Year). She has been honored with three Emmy Awards and a special Tony Award in 1974 for her contribution to that year's Broadway season. Her numerous starring film roles include "The First Wives Club," "Down and Out in Beverly Hills" and "Ruthless People," Last year Midler portrayed the late Hollywood agent Sue Mengers in the hit Broadway production, "I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers."
