Bernadette Peters Plays Eccles Center for New Year's Eve Tonight
She sings. She acts. She simply shines. Broadway star Bernadette Peters returns to The Eccles Center stage for a special New Year's Eve performance, tonight, December 31. The Tony award winner tops off the holidays with sparkle and depth - both of which accompany the extraordinary talents of a remarkable chanteuse. Show starts at 8 p.m.
"The last time Bernadette Peters graced our stage, you could have heard a pin drop. The sold-out crowd was utterly spellbound by her voice and her commanding presence," says PCI executive director Teri Orr. "We couldn't think of a more magical and glamorous way to usher in a New Year."
Peters' performances mix pure vocal prowess with classic showmanship. Her encore appearance on The Eccles Center stage will include popular standards, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim. Perfectly capable of keeping a "capacity crowd in a thrall," (The Los Angeles Times), she will be accompanied by 10 talented musicians.
The Tony award-winning actress first took to the spotlight at age three. Since then, she's transformed herself from the Witch in Sondheim's "Into the Woods" to her Emmy-nominated role on FOX's hit show Ally McBeal. She's appeared in 17 films and received all manner of honors from a Golden Globe to a Hollywood star on the Walk of Fame to a Drama Desk Award. In addition to Grammy-award winning Broadway cast albums, she has recorded six solo albums and performed with symphonies across the country.
Park City Institute presents Bernadette Peters in a New Year's Eve performance, tonight, December 31, 2013 at The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center for the Performing Arts (1750 Kearns Blvd., Park City). Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $40 to $165. Tickets and information are available at The Eccles Center box office, 435-655-3114 or www.ecclescenter.org.
