Elvis returns to The Picture Show at Bay Street in January. KING CREOLE will be screened on January 6, followed by JAILHOUSE ROCK on January 7. Both films begin at 8 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door. KING CREOLE is a 1958 starring Elvis Presley, Carolyn Jones ("The Addams Family") and Walter Mathau ("The Odd Couple"). The story is about Danny Fisher, a young delinquent who quits his job in a nightclub as a busboy and then gets a chance to perform onstage. Success is imminent and local crime boss wants to hire him. Danny says no but the boss won't take no for an answer. The film was directed by Michael Curtiz with costume design by Edith Head.

JAILHOUSE ROCK also starring Elvis Presley premiered in 1957. The title song of the same name is a popular favorite among Elvis fans. Elvis plays Vince Everett, who is serving jail time for manslaughter. His cellmate, who was a former country singer, introduces him to the record business. Vince decides to enter the business after he gets out of jail but quickly gets disillusioned by the record business. In a quick turn of events, he forms his own label and becomes an overnight sensation. The film was directed by Richard Thorpe.
