Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum will present Cracked Walnuts, a banjo and washboard duo specializing in old-time American music, for its First Friday! event on July 1. Dressed in period clothing, Cracked Walnuts' husband and wife team, Jeff and Jan Ausfahl, will sing and play the music of American composers Stephen Foster, George M. Cohan, and Irving Berlin from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Included in the program will be American classics such as "Oh! Susanna," "Give My Regards to Broadway," "You're a Grand Old Flag," "Alexander's Ragtime Band," and others. "What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend than with a celebration of great American music in a historic setting!" says BPMM executive director Ellen Bruzelius.

The Museum will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Visitors may tour the mansion, stroll the garden, and picnic outside, weather permitting. Tickets are $8.00; $5.00 for seniors and students; and free for members. Light refreshments will be provided at no charge. Free transportation is provided by the Bronx Seaside Trolley, which makes a continuous loop from the Bx29 bus stop at Pelham Bay Park (last stop on the #6 train) to the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum and to City Island.
