Barbra Streisand Makes History Again with ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway; It's Officially Her 11th #1 Album

It's official! BroadwayWorld.com has learned from Billboard via the RIAA that Barbra Streisand has made music history yet again- this time for having eleven of her albums reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her latest album ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway was just released on Columbia Records, and sold over 150,000+ copies in its first week (ahead of Florida Georgia Line, Britney Spears, and Frank Ocean). Streisand continues to be the female artist with the most #1 albums and the first artist with #1's in each of the six decades of her career. It's no wonder she remains 'Broadway's greatest export.'
Everyone knew that the race was tight over the weekend with predictions from Hits Daily Double, but everyone was waiting for Billboard's official word. That means the album is now #1 in the UK, Australia and the United States ... no small feat for the star, who at age 74 seems to have no boundaries and continues working at the top of her game.
The star heavily promoted the new album which included appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, as well as a fantastic piece on CBS Sunday Morning which covered "Barbra's Broadway". She was also re-instated at Sardi's after her first caricature had been stolen. She also did a series of interviews in Los Angeles, which have been appearing regularly on all of the entertainment shows and had a stellar profile in the New York Times written by Ben Brantley.
Also, Barbra Streisand is returning to SiriusXM! The Barbra Streisand Channel, an exclusive limited-run channel featuring the works of the EGOT-winning (actually EGGOT when we count her many Golden Globes!) artist, will launch Sept. 6 on Ch. 18. A special SiriusXM Town Hall with Barbra Streisand, hosted by actor Patrick Wilson, airs on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. ET on The Barbra Streisand Channel.
