On Tuesday, April 22, 2008, past Drama League Award recipients Norbert Leo Butz and Christine Ebersole, along with [title of show] co-author and star Hunter Bell, will announce the nominations for The 74th Annual Drama League Awards.
 
The nominations will be announced at Sardi's Restaurant (234 West 44th Street) at 10:30 a.m.  This year, for the first time in the history of the Drama League, the nominations announcement can also be viewed live on the internet, via an exclusive webcast hosted by BroadwayWorld.com.
 
Each season,The Drama League's 3,000+ members bestow awards in five categories, for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical and The Distinguished Performance Award. 
 
Norbert Leo Butz and Christine Ebersole are past recipients of The Drama League's Distinguished Performance Award, for their performances in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (2005) and Grey Gardens (2007), respectively. Hunter Bell has previously served as a Drama League nominator. This season, he will appear in the Broadway transfer of his hit Off-Broadway musical [title of show].
 
The 74th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon will take place on Friday, May 16, 2008 (noon) in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriot Marquis Hotel (1535 Broadway). 
 
Hosted by Harvey Fierstein (A Catered Affair),  The 74th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheonis co-chaired by Broadway luminaries Bobby Cannavale (Mauritius), Laurence Fishburne (Thurgood), Peter Gallagher (The Country Girl), Terrence Howard (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Cheyenne Jackson (Xanadu),  Laura Linney (Les Liaisons Dangereuses) S. Epatha Merkerson (Come Back, Little Sheba), Rosie Perez (The Ritz), Martha Plimpton (Cymbeline) and Patrick Stewart (Macbeth).
 
Long considered the theatre season's most festive award ceremony, The Drama League Awards pays tribute to the season's best performers by including the nominees of The Distinguished Performance Award on a dais.  The 74th Annual Drama League Awards dais will feature approximately 60 stars from the 2007-08 Broadway and Off-Broadway season, including the Honorary Co-Chairs.
 
In addition to the five competitive award categories, The Drama League also presents three annual specialty awards. This season, as previously announced, Paul Gemignani will receive the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre Award, Bartlett Sher will be honored with the Julia Hansen Award for Excellence in Directing, and Ellen Stewart / La MaMa E.T.C. will receive the Unique Contribution to the Theatre Award.
