BWW Preview: AMERICAN IDIOT at Milburn Stone Theatre

NORTH EAST, MARYLAND -- The two-time Tony Award-winning musical about three men trying to find their way in a post-9/11 world opens Friday night at Milburn Stone Theatre on the campus of Cecil College for a two-weekend run. This past paced show has every song from Green Day's album American Idiot, as well as other songs from follow-up release, 21st Century Breakdown.

Directed by Lance Bankerd, with music direct from J. Andrew Dickenson and choreography by Ron Jones, the unsung hero of MST's installment of American Idiot is the lighting design by Bill Price. It is definitely a show worth seeing over the next two weekends.

"American Idiot was an opportunity to incite a ferocious cast of brilliant performers to confront the the unresolved anxieties of turning the corner of the millennium and finding ourselves in the age of terrorism, media saturation, over medication, and the dark side of the American dream," said director Lance Bankerd. "Our ensemble based approach afforded us the opportunity to explore and expand upon themes referenced in the piece. It was a pleasure to create with these dedicated artists."
