School of Rock

Get ready to rock, East Lansing! School of Rock - the Musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber's high-octane Broadway and West End hit, is coming to the Wharton Center's Cobb Great Hall starting September 18th as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center Series. The show is based on the hit 2003 film of the same name, features music from the movie, as well as an original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and so much more! School of Rock will make the audience laugh, excite them with the incredible music, and astound them with the impressive cast. BroadwayWorld Detroit had a chance to speak with the one of the talented young performers, Mystic Inscho, about the show and life on tour.

BroadwayWorld Detroit: Can you describe School of Rock in your own words?

Mystic Inscho: It is about a rock player who got kicked out of his band and takes a job as a substitute teacher. He teaches the kids rock and roll and makes a new life for everyone.

BWW Detroit: How would you describe your character, Zack?

Mystic Inscho: He is a rebellious kid who didn't know his potential. With Dewey's help, he finds himself and expresses his emotions as a guitar player.

BWW Detroit: Do you have a song in the show?

Mystic Inscho: My favorite is the song "You're in the Band." Each member of the band gets a line to say, "I am in the band." They all work together and it is the starting point of the band.

BWW Detroit: What musical instruments do you play and for how long?

Mystic Inscho: I have played piano for three years, guitar for two years, and drums for a year. I love them all and play different styles on different instruments.

BWW Detroit: What is your favorite part of being in a national tour?

Mystic Inscho: I love working with the other kids and exploring new cities.

BWW Detroit: Are you looking forward to visiting East Lansing, Michigan and exploring the city?

Mystic Inscho: I have heard that East Lansing has one of the best universities. I am excited to learn more about the city.

BWW Detroit: Why do you think people should come see School of Rock?

Mystic Inscho: It is a great story and the kids are super talented. They are as young as nine years old and come from all over the country.
