Check out what's happening this weekend in classical music:

Friday, July 27 - 7:30pm

Handel and Bach-Mostly Mozart @Geffen Hall

Before strapping one on after this long-ass week, slide into your weekend with some subtle sophistication. Get seduced by Richard Egarr's consummate musicianship and allow Bach and Handel to lead you into your weekend in style.

Saturday, July 28 - 8pm

Jenny Q Chai in Sonorous Brushes @Spectrum

In this program, Chai has delved deep to highlight the connections between art and music. Finding strong connections between our auditory and visual senses, she takes this exploration one step further--rounding out the program with one of the most 'millennial' things I've heard since 'avocado toast.' The concert concludes with the employment of AI, which will create impactful visuals made as a direct response to her playing. This sounds intoxicatingly 'Brooklyn' and I can't wait.

Sunday, July 29 - 1:30pm

Carousel on Broadway

American musical theatre was birthed as our response to the European operatic tradition--and Carousel is the perfect musical to witness this evolution. Its sweeping score and demanding vocal writing are a necessary reprieve from the screlting found at nearby theatres. If this isn't draw enough, operatic super-star Ms. Renée Fleming shutting it down in her Tony nominated Nettie Fowler should do the trick.
