BWW Fashion Exclusive: Interview with Kira Dikhtyar from THE FACE

Kira Dikhtyar is currently one of the models who is appearing in the hit reality show, "The Face" on Oxygen. Hosted by Nigel Barker, it has proven to be one of America's most popular modeling competition shows. Kira currently resides in New York City and Broadwayworld.com Fashion had an opportunity to interview her during this very busy time.

Kira commented on appearing on "The Face." "It's been a lifetime experience I will never forget. It's amazing opportunity to learn from real stars, like Naomi. And even I learned it the hard way. I never learned so much in my entire life." Born in Moscow, Russia, Kira six became involved in rhythmic gymnastics at age 6. She joined the Russian Junior National team at age of 13 where she was mentored by legendary coach Irina Viner. Kira then went on to win a Gold Medal at the Junior Olympics in 1998.

During her time as an award-winning Russian athlete she was scouted by a top international agent who helped initiate her modeling career by bringing her to the United States where she was immediately signed with one of America's top modeling agencies.

Kira was featured in a variety of sports ads including NIKE, that lead her to her first fashion campaign as the face of Abercrombie and Fitch shot by renowned fashion photographer Bruce Weber. Kira has since been featured in Vogue, Glamour, In Style, GQ, ELLE, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, Noise, Marie Claire, FHM and Maxim. She has been photographed by some of the top fashion photographers around the world such as Partick Demarcelier, Rankin,Tony Duran and Francesko Carrosini.

Travel is a big part of professional modeling. Kira spoke about her travels and an upcoming trip. "My favorite shoot that I traveled to was a beach off the Indian Ocean and I love the Caribbean Islands. New York has had a brutal winter and I'm a bit tired of it. I'm excited to leave this week and head to Miami."

Kira also talked about the clothing she enjoys modeling. "Besides being a model, I am a rhythmic gymnast so I love to shoot sportswear, to showcase my gymnastic ability. However, I also really love swimwear and sexy lingerie. I feel very confident with my body, and as a model, it gives me more room to move."

Kira took a brief break from her modeling career after having her son, who is now two-years-old, and hopes that "The Face" will be her chance to truly make her mark in the industry and take her career to the next level.

And when we asked Kira about her future plans, she stated, "Well, for now I am still working as a model both here in the US and back in my hometown of Russia. A career goal for me is to do more television not only as a TV personality, but also as a producer!"
