After a lovely day off on Monday in Little Rock where a bunch of cast members rented a boat and went to Hot Springs for some r & r, we headed to the airport at 4 a.m. on Tuesday for our early flights to Ottawa, connecting through Chicago. I got to Ottawa around noonand was in my bed by12:30 and took a 4 hour nap!!
I was born and raised in Ottawa, spent the first 18 years of my life here with my parents, training in every discipline, dancing, singing and acting throughout high school. I started dancing at the age of 6 years old, so for those counting, it has now been 26 years! This is a huge deal for me, not only because this is my home town, but because it is also the first time I perform here in Ottawa in my professional career. I've been on Broadway, in Toronto, on 4 national tours and I finally am back at home performing at the gorgeous National Arts Center. The last time I was backstage at that theatre was when I danced to the music of Oscar Peterson, when he was being honored with a Governor General's Award in 1996. 17 years later, I'm back and I can't tell you how incredible this feeling is. I had tears in my eyes when I took my bow the first night we had a show here on Wednesday. This means so much to me.
