BWW BLOG: Upcoming 2018 Summer Stock Regional Theatre Opportunities

Jess here. Happy 2018! Now that we've turned the calendar to January, the time has come to prepare for the upcoming Summer Stock Theatre season. Most of the theatrical companies begin their casting process in February, but a few begin later this month. The following is a brief list of several local and regional Summer Stock Theatre season offerings for 2018, as well as audition dates and requirements.

Many of these productions are AEA affiliates, and participate in the Equity Membership Candidate Program (EMC) which allows qualifying summer production work to count towards becoming an Equity member (completion of Phase 1 requires a minimum of 25 weeks). http://actorsequity.org/home.asp

Several theatres are also part of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). Many LORT
Theatres are not-for-profit, and are responsible for providing a large number of Equity contracts across the United States. http://lort.org/

Another necessary distinction that may be helpful to know is the difference between EPA vs. ECC auditions/calls. An Equity Principal Audition (EPA) is for lead roles and an Equity Chorus Call (ECC) is for ensemble positions. Depending on the particular production, non-union actors can sometimes be seen if time permits.
