Popular Dance show BURN THE FLOOR will play Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) for a limited run beginning July 25, with an opening night set for August 2. Notice of the upcoming run was posted on the show's website, however no official announcement has yet been made. The production will run through Sunday, October 18.

From Harlem's hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba and Salsa steamed up the stage, Burn the Floor takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance," according to Telecharge.com. "The elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of Jive, the intensity of the Paso Doble - audiences will experience them all, as well as the Tango, Samba, Mambo, Quickstep, and Swing. It's Ballroom dance with a sexy 21st century edge.

Burn the Floor is produced by Peta Roby (International Grand Finalist, Latin American Dance) and Harley Medcalf, and features direction and choreography by Jason Gilkison.

Tickets for the Broadway engagement of BURN THE FLOOR will go on sale Monday, June 15.

BURN THE FLOOR will play the following performance schedule: Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm. Matinees performances are Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm, and Sunday at 3pm.

According to Producer Harley Medcalf, the original idea of Burn the Floor came in a burst of colour and energy. "I was witness to a scintillating display of Ballroom and Latin dancing at Sir Elton John's 50th birthday celebration at the Hammersmith Palais Ballroom, London in 1997. In the midst of a glamorous costumed evening, Sir Elton, the ultimate host, the party in full swing, 16 young energetic dancers mesmerized the packed room in a 10 minute dance display. For me it was just the spark of an idea then. I was soon to meet and discover the Ballroom dance world, its people with their intensity, commitment, discipline and work ethic. These ideas would become my inspiration. It was the dancers themselves that provided the real motivation, their good nature, openness and sheer talent combined with a burning passion and love of dance."
