Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz declares February 3, 2005 "Brooklyn Boy Opening Night."

Whereas, Brooklyn is the place where legends are made and dreams come true, and is proud to be New York City's creative capital, it is only fitting that this office honor Brooklyn-born scribes and other artistic virtuosos who bring honor and fame to our borough through their creative accomplishments; and

Whereas, "Brooklyn Boy," a new play by dramatist Donald Margulies, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of the South Coast Repertory tradition, opens today at the Biltmore Theatre under the production of the Manhattan Theatre Club; and

Whereas, "Brooklyn Boy" starring Adam Arkin, and directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan, brings its main character back home to Brooklyn to engage his forgotten past, returning to his roots in our borough; and

Whereas, on behalf of all Brooklynites, I salute and commend the Manhattan Theatre Club, all the talented cast and crew, and add that while Donald Margulies may currently reside elsewhere, he will always be, in our eyes, as well as in our hearts, a true "Brooklyn Boy," because the play shows once again, that when you make it in Brooklyn, where else matters?, and once a Brooklynite, always a Brooklynite;

Now, therefore, I, Marty Markowitz, President of the Borough of Brooklyn, do hereby proclaim Thursday, February 3rd, 2005

"Brooklyn Boy" Opening Night

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Borough of Brooklyn to be affixed this 3rd day of February, 2005.
