Ari Graynor, last seen on Broadway this season in The Performers, has joined the cast of the 35th anniversary benefit reading of Wendy Wasserstein's acclaimed play UNCOMMON WOMEN AND OTHERS on May 13th, directed by Obie Award Winner Leigh Silverman.

Graynor will play the role of 'Samantha Stewart,' completing a cast that includes Celia Keenan-Bolger as 'Kate Quin,' Merritt Wever as 'Holly Caplan,' Lisa Joyce as 'Muffet DiNicola,' Aya Cash as 'Rita Altabel,' Lisa Kron as 'Mrs. Plumm,' Jenni Barber as 'Susie Friend,' Tracee Chimo as 'Carter,' and Cristin Milioti as 'Leilah,' with Byron Jennings as 'The Male Voice' and Melissa Ross as 'Narrator/Stage Directions'. She replaces the previously announced Laura Benanti, who has been forced to withdraw from the event due to a scheduling conflict.

All proceeds from the reading will benefit TDF Open Doors (www.tdf.org/opendoors), a mentoring program co-founding by Ms. Wasserstein and Roy Harris that "matches dozens of distinguished theatre and dance professionals with small groups of high school students with no prior exposure to theatre." The evening is produced by The Indigo Theatre Project (Nick Gereffi and Rachel Sussman, Co-Founding Artistic Directors), a theater company that strives to unite passion with purpose by producing high-profile readings of notable plays to benefit charities aligned with the work being read. Set amidst the second-wave feminist movement of the 1970s, UNCOMMON WOMEN AND OTHERS follows the lives, loves, and losses of a close-knit circle of friends at Mount Holyoke College (itself Wasserstein's own alma matter.) As the women reunite six years after graduation, the story flashes back to the seminal moments in their lives as classmates to examine what inspired them, what affected them, and ultimately what shaped them. Told in the signature voice of Wendy Wasserstein at the very inception of her illustrious career, UNCOMMON WOMEN AND OTHERS is a poignant story about the intimate connection between who you were, who you are, and who you want to be.

Tickets to the benefit reading of UNCOMMON WOMEN AND OTHERS are $60 and $100 (the latter includes premium seats and an invitation to a post-show reception alongside the cast and creative team). Ticket buyers can access a special $40 price point using the discount code UNCOMMON40. To purchase tickets, please contact Ticket Central online 24 hours a day at www.ticketcentral.com or via phone at 212-279-4200 between the hours of 12PM and 8PM.
