American Coast Theater Company's MACBETH Opens This Weekend

American Coast Theater Company, the resident professional theater of Vanguard University, closes out its summer season with a intimate reimagining of Shakespeare's juiciest tragedy. MACBETH opens Friday, June 22 at the Lyceum Theater on Vanguard's Costa Mesa campus and runs through July 8.

Shakespeare's haunting psychological thriller is directed by Connor Berkompas and stars Orange County favorites Brock Milhorn (Maverick Theater's The Killer Angels) and Amanda Zarr (Chance Theatre's Good People) as the murderous couple. The cast of nine also includes Susan K. Berkompas, Paul Eggington, Ryan Miller, Mark Piatelli, Pierre Ekladios, and Alexis Starry.

Prophesying witches, murderous ambition for the crown and descent into insanity -- Macbeth was Shakespeare's Game of Thrones, a haunting psychological thriller that remains as powerful today as when men were wearing tights. Sure, you could watch any of the countless film adaptations (Choose your genius: Orson Welles, Akira Kurosawa, Roman Polanski), but to really experience Macbeth, you've got to see it as intended -- on the stage. You don't want to miss this American Coast Theater Company production in Costa Mesa.

MACBETH runs June 22, 23, 29, 30, July 6, 7, at 7:30 p.m.; and June 24, 30, July 1, 7, 8 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $19 general admission, $15 for seniors and groups. For more information on American Coast Theater or to purchase show tickets, visit www.ACTCtickets.com. Box office: 714-619-6424
