Alexander, Burton, Kazan, Mullally and More Star in March 8 Funny Girl Benefit in LA

Over a dozen stars will belt out the songs of Funny Girl at the 14th Annual A Night at Sardi's Alzheimer's Association Benefit, which will be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA on March 8th.

The benefit will honor the memory of Abe Burrows (How to Succeed..., Guys and Dolls), the librettist and director who passed away in 1985.

Performing songs from the classic Jule Styne-Bob Merrill score will be Jason Alexander, Tishina Arnold, Kate Burton, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Michael Chiklis, Loretta Devine, Victor Garber, Malcolm Gets, Jill Hennessy, Lainie Kazan (who stood by as Fanny Brice on Broadway), Ricki Lake, Sharon Lawrence, Lorna Luft, Garry Marshall, Megan Mullally, Josh Radnor, Lea Thompson, Tracie Thoms, Chandra Wilson and Hattie Winston. Peter Gallagher, who appeared as Nicky Arnstein in the Actors' Fund benefit concert of Funny Girl, will serve as emcee.

Produced by Susan Dietz, the evening will feature musical direction by Harold Wheeler. Proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer's Association in Los Angeles.

Funny Girl, with music by Styne, lyrics by Merrill and a book by Isobel Lennart, recounts the true-life story of comedienne Fanny Brice, who goes from Brooklyn ugly duckling to glamorous Ziegfeld star (and falls in love with a suave gambler along the way). Featuring classic songs such as "I'm The Greatest Star," "People," "Don't Rain on My Parade," and "The Music That Makes Me Dance," Funny Girl opened at the Winter Garden Theatre on March 26th, 1964, and ran for 1,348 performances. Star Barbra Streisand, who skyrocketed to fame with her performance, received a Tony Award nomination for her work as Fanny (and would go on to recreate the performance in the 1968 film version, for which she won an Oscar).
