The world premiere production of The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical, based on the novel by Mordecai Richler, with book and lyrics by David Spencer and an original music by eight-time Oscar winning composer Alan Menken, will officially receive a cast recording.

Yet to be officially announced, cast members, as well as Menken, gathered to record the album today in Montreal, where the musical is currently running at the Segal Centre. The photo to the left, along with the caption 'Pic 1 of #DuddyMusical original cast album recording. Expect more...,' was posted on Instagram this afternoon.

The Segal's record-breaking hit first extended its run before its official June 11th opening due to extraordinary audience demand. With a week of new performances added, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical will conclude its remarkably popular run until July 12th, 2015.

The musical follows the coming of age of Mordecai Richler's iconic young hustler Duddy Kravitz who risks making a name for himself at the expense of those he loves the most.

The rest of the cast includes Marie-Pierre de Brienne (Yvette), George Masswohl (Max), Howard Jerome (Simcha), Adrian Marchuk (Lenny), Victor A. Young (Benjy), David Coomber (Virgil), Michael Rudder (Jerry Dingelman), Sam Rosenthal (Mr. Cohen), Kristian Truelsen (Peter John Friar), with Albane Chateau, Gab Desmond, Julia Halfyard and Michael Esposito II in various ensemble roles.

Directed by Austin Pendleton, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical features Musical Direction by Jonathan Monro, Set and Costumes by Michael Eagan and Lighting by Luc Prairie.

The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical is presented by RBC with the generous support of MUSE Entertainment.
