As reported in an interview AFP, Alan Menken is heading into this TV awards season with the possibility of joining the elite EGOT club-a feat realized by just 12 people in history. Although Menken's resume is littered with so many award-winning hits that many might assume he's already fulfilled all the EGOT requirements (winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony), Menken lacks the "E" in the acronym, a fact that just might change if he's fortunate enough to win an Emmy award for his GALAVANT tune, "A New Season" in September.

Menken is best known for writing the scores for the Disney films THE LITTLE MERMAID, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, ALADDIN and POCAHONTAS -- each of which won him two Academy Awards -- as well as HERCULES, ENCHANTED, TANGLED and more. Among his Broadway credits are A BRONX TALE, headed to the Great White Way this winter, ALADDIN, LEAP OF FAITH, NEWSIES (which earned him a Tony in 2012), SISTER ACT, THE LITTLE MERMAID, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, KING DAVID, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. He recently worked with Stephen Schwartz on the stage adaptation of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME.
