Tony Award winning stage and film actor, Alan Cumming, is the latest star to be cast in writer/director Chuck Griffith's upcoming indie motion picture, Shifting the Canvas.
Appearing as lead antagonist Jack Gresham, Cumming will play the dramatic role of a Machiavellian New York real estate developer seeking to turn the urban hipster community of Williamsburg, Brooklyn into another gentrified neighborhood of condos, PinkBerrys, and IKEAs. The daring and eclectic actor is best known for his roles in films such as X2: X-Men United, Eyes Wide Shut, Goldeneye, Emma, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, the Spy Kids trilogy, Nicholas Nickleby, Titus and Urbania. He has also appeared on Broadway in Sam Mendes' revival of the Kander and Ebb musical, Cabaret - and most recently in The Threepenny Opera. "Alan's versatility is unrivaled," said Chuck Griffith, the award-winning producer and director of 2001's independent rock-music film, Thank You Good Night. In addition to Shifting the Canvas, Griffith is currently working on the horror film, Apollo Thorne, and the television series Waterloo.
