AMERICAN SCOREBOARD Presents Special on The Trump Administration

As public schools come to a close this week, AMERICAN SCOREBOARD announces a back-to-school repeat performance of The Betsy Devos Confirmation Hearing for The Secretary of Education to take place at Arena Stage in The Mead Center For American Theater, 1101 Sixth Street SW, Washington DC on September 17th, 2018 at 6pm. This will mark the first visit of the educational program to the DC area.

AMERICAN SCOREBOARD is an ongoing series that reflects the issues that face President Donald Trump and the American People today. Conceived and produced by Fran Kirmser and created and produced by Christopher Burney, AMERICAN SCOREBOARD are readings of selected and timely verbatim Senate and Congressional hearing transcripts.

AMERICAN SCOREBOARD's first readings were presented at HB Studio Players Theater on January 24, 2017, reaching back into 2016 on the topic of corporate fraud with The Wells Fargo Hearing Panel 1. The second reading, The Tom Price Confirmation Hearing - Panel 1, was presented March 1, 2017, and the third installment on The Investigation of Russian Interference in the 2016 Election with Clint Watts was presented on June 26, 2017. Gun Violence was read via podcast appearance on January 16, 2018 and The Betsy Devos Confirmation Hearing was originally co-Produced with Pace University in the Fall of 2017 at the 700 seat Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts, NYC.

Casting for the DC production will include young Broadway actors as well as students from the DC area to be announced. U.S. Senators represented in the original Devos reading were portrayed by current students and recent graduates, young professionals from Broadway productions, colleges and universities, including Pace University, and middle school students from the New York City Public School System. All Actors appeared courtesy of Actors Equity Association and featured; Lilla Crawford (Annie) as Senator Patricia Murray, Sydney Lucas (Fun Home) as Senator Elizabeth Warren, Sam Poon (The King and I) as Senator Bernie Sanders, Nicholas Barasch (Big River, 2017 Encores!) as Senator Al Franken, Edward O'Blenis as Senator Lamar Alexander (Law & Order SVU), and Tracy Shayne (Bronx Bombers, Chicago) as Betsy DeVos.
