ALFREDO RODRÍGUEZ TRIO to Open Miller Theatre's 2026-27 Jazz Series

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts will kick off its 2026-27 Jazz series with the Alfredo Rodríguez Trio on Saturday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The performance will mark Grammy-nominated Cuban pianist and composer Alfredo Rodríguez's first appearance at Miller Theatre since 2019. Rodríguez will be joined by Han Beyli on bass and Armando Lopez on drums.

Rodríguez blends jazz, classical influences and Afro-Cuban rhythms in his work. Born in Havana, the pianist, composer and producer has built an international career performing throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America.

His latest album, ¡TAKE COVER!, was developed while Rodríguez was on tour, with ideas taking shape on airplanes, during soundchecks and on stages around the world. The project reimagines familiar songs through Cuban, Caribbean and Latin rhythms.

Bassist Han Beyli performs original music and reimagined covers spanning jazz, pop and R&B. He has performed alongside Jack DeJohnette, John Medeski, David Fiuczynski, Enver Izmaylov, Gilmar Gomes and Munir Hossn, among others, and has appeared at festivals and venues throughout Europe, Turkey, Russia and the United States.

Lopez is a Miami-based drummer, producer and composer and a member of the fusion quartet Electric Kif. He has toured with the Roosevelt Collier Band, Cris Cab, ArtOfficial and the Nu Deco Ensemble and served for three seasons as house-band drummer for the television series La Voz.

His additional credits include arranging for and performing with Ben Folds, Cory Henry, Jacob Collier, Emily King, Angélique Kidjo, Tune-Yards, Kishi Bashi, Macy Gray and Aaron Parks, among others.
