Hello 12, Hello 13, Hello 2006.

According to an article in the New York Times on January 12, 2005, the smash hit of the 70s (and 80s), "A Chorus Line" is coming back to Broadway in 2006.

Rumored for several years to be revived, the tuner already has a target date of September 21, 2006 and is being spearheaded by three members of the original creative team - composer Marvin Hamlisch, designer Robin Wagner and choreographer Bob Avian. Producing the revival will be John Breglio who, since the time of Michael Bennett's death in 1987, controls the estate. No theater has been named nor does the production have any financial backing as of yet.

In an interview with the New York Times, Breglio states, "This is not an easy project. It is still daunting as far as the economics. And we don't have a crystal ball. But we all love it."

A Chorus Line was created from a series of workshops and interviews with performers "on the line" and first played off-Broadway at the Public Theater. Two months later it opened at the Shubert where it played 6,137 performances between 1975 and 1990. The show won 9 Tony awards when it opened and then another in 1984 (a special "golden Tony") for being the longest running musical at that time. Since then, the show has enjoyed national tours and regional productions all over the world.
