48HOURS IN... ™ HARLEM Brings 2nd Anthology to The Drama Book Shop

Harlem9 has now published their 2nd Anthology, "48Hours in...™ Harlem Vol. 2", an inspired collection of 12 short plays, written by established and emerging playwrights and commissioned by the collaborative for their annual "48Hours in... ™Harlem" play festival.

Like the launch of Vol. 1 in 2016, the producers of "48Hours in... ™ Harlem", a twist on the traditional 24-hour play festival - Harlem9, will celebrate their 2nd Anthology with readings of four of the 12 plays in the newest volume at The Drama Book Shop. Refreshments will be served prior to the readings.

The launch will take place Friday, February 2, 2018 at 4:30pm. The event is free of charge and will include a chance to meet many of the actors, directors and playwrights involved from the 7 years. Copies of the anthologies will be available to purchase through The Drama Book Shop.

The producers have focused on getting the book in the hands of schools, bookstores and libraries over the past year and hope to reach even more educators in 2018. "...it's the dream that every young directing and acting student encounter storytelling voices that he or she connect with, to then propel their own artistic exploration and storytelling. The Harlem9 Anthologies have done that for my students... So thank you.", says educator Jared Eberlein. Most recently, Eberlein's students used Jocelyn Bioh's "Teena with 2 E's", which is included in the 2nd Anthology, as part of a school production. Jocelyn Bioh, Ghanaian-American performer/playwright's play School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play was recently featured in the MCC PlayLab Series at the Lucille Lortel Theater.
