Storytellers, comedians, playwrights, musicians, and, yes, even scientists will show us just how entertaining the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics can be. It might not have clicked in 9th grade, but now there are drinks and you're no longer stuck in puberty. The 2nd Annual STEM Fest will run January 7-16 with performances at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery), unless otherwise noted. Long Story Long

Thursday, January 7 @ 7pm $10

Long Story Long is a storytelling show created to let the audience get to know the performers a little better. Most stories onstage are just a sliver of a person. Long Story Long offers long form stories. With 30 minutes to share, performers take us along with them on their journeys.

This Week in Science: The Kickass Science and Technology Show

This Week in Science (TWIS) is a weekly web and radio show presenting a humorous, often opinionated, and irreverent look at the week in science and technology. Hosts Dr. Kiki Sanford, Justin Jackson, and Blair Bazdarich each bring their unique perspectives to discuss the latest in cutting-edge science news. In a very special engagement, the West coast TWIS team is making a special trip to New York City for STEM Fest! Usually only seen lurking in the dark and science-y corners of the internet, this is a special opportunity for TWIS and science enthusiasts to go to the theater... together! Topics up for discussion range from controversial issues like genetic engineering, stem cells, and cybernetics to more evocative ideas like climate change, space exploration, neuroscience, or microbiology. Cool Kids Conservation Celebration

Kids theater in the East Village? That's right! Kids and their parents will enjoy a day at the theatre all about wild animals, science and what we all can do (even kids) to make our planet a great place to live. Adventures in Citizen Science, Conservation and the AMAZON!

This show is part two of Bricken Sparacino's storytelling series about the wonder of the natural world and how we can all be inspired to become citizen scientists. This night will include stories by Bricken about her trip to the Peruvian Amazon rainforest, an interview with local scientists about their conservation efforts, and a new short play by Robin Rice that gives a hint at the next evolutionary step for mankind.

A night of anything goes Conservation Theater. Leave the kids at home! Sometimes science can seem stuffy, not tonight. Science storytelling show The Story Collider is excited to appear for the first time at the Kraine Theater as part of STEM Fest 2016, featuring five true, personal stories of science in people's lives. The show will be hosted by physicist­turned­storyteller Ben Lillie and multiple Moth GrandSLAM champion Erin Barker.

Astronomy on Tap Presents Pop Science!

Astronomy on Tap brings the Universe down to Earth with quirky, irreverent science presentations at bars around the world. At STEM Fest, scientists and educators from local research and cultural institutions collide with pop culture for an eccentric evening of astro-tainment, plus DJ Carly Sagan & MC Tycho Brewhaha's constellation of music, games, and prizes, including Neil Tyson's Trash Treasures!Proceeds from ticket sales at STEM Fest will support Astronomy on Tap's free events in NYC and their contributions to local classrooms via DonorsChoose.org.

STEM Themed Monthly Shows

Adam Wade from New Hampshire

Adam Wade (Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer, NPR regular), a staggering 20-time Moth Story Slam winner, has put together many of his winning heartfelt and humorous stories for this special monthly show. No two shows are the same. Adam is excited to be making his return to STEM Fest with a show featuring personal stories that are all science themed. A surprise featured guest will also be starting the evening off. A must see!

Open Mic Downstairs

At The Open Mic Downstairs the focus is the stage! Sign-ups get seven minutes to try anything in one of the most supportive rooms in New York. Sketch Block

Sketch Block is a comedy showcase that gives sketch troupes an opportunity to perform without the pressure of bringing in an audience. Also, Sketch Block does not force their audience to pay for drinks. We believe that it's your choice to drink or not. It's about the comedy. Sketch Comedy meets Block Party. This monthly show features a guest host comedian, three guest sketch troupes and drinking. Come meet, mingle, and perform!

Thank You Robot

A showcase for independent and established improv teams. For each show, two teams join Thank You, Robot to perform sets of unscripted comedy, never seen before and never to be seen again.

FRIGID New York is a theater development group with a focus on new work that produces a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater every season. FRIGID's Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. FRIGID New York grew out of the annual FRIGID Festival, the first and only festival of its kind in New York City to offer artists 100% of their box office proceeds, and Horse Trade Theater Group, a self-sustaining theater development and management group.
