Door Shakespeare Sets Casting for 2015 Season

Door Shakespeare has announced play selections and casting for the 2015 summer season. Door Shakespeare will present William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and The Tempest in the Garden at Bjo?rklunden in Baileys Harbor, WI running July 3rd through August 15th with preview performances June 30th through July 2nd. Both productions will be directed by Leda Hoffmann, who returns to Door Shakespeare after directing the audience and critic favorite, The Comedy of Errors in 2014. Ms. Hoffmann currently serves as the Literary Coordinator for the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre where she recently directed THE AMISH PROJECT, which was noted as "a production that will live with you for a long time" by OnMilwaukee.com.

The 2015 acting company includes many celebrated and distinguished talents from the Milwaukee and Chicago area. The acting company features Milwaukee area audience favorites Mark Corkins, Carrie Hitchcock, Jim Pickering, and Door Shakespeare veteran Jonathan Wainwright; all performing in both productions. These actors have appeared on the stages of American Players Theatre, The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, and Renaissance Theaterworks, among many others. Joining them from Milwaukee will be Andrew Carlyle, currently an intern at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and John Brotherhood.

Chicago-based actor Joe Boersma will return for a second season with Door Shakespeare along with new talents Heather Chrisler, Matt Deitchman, Carolyn Hoerdemann, Steven Lee Johnson, and Chris Peltier.

Mr. Deitchman will also serve as music director and composer for both productions. This group of actors comes to Door Shakespeare after having performed at various Chicago and Midwest theatres including Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Riverside Theatre, Madison Children's Theatre, First Folio Theatre, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Door County native Mark Moede will spend the summer with Door Shakespeare after appearing with Peninsula Players in 2014.

The artistic team for the season includes returning Production Stage Manager Melissa Wanke, Lighting Designer and Production Manager Todd Mion, and Costume Designer Bridgid Danahy. Ryan Schabach will return to the Door Shakespeare company as Fight Choreographer for both productions. The intern company will feature Acting Interns Mack Folkert from Carthage College and Jacob Schrimpf from Notre Dame University. Veronica DeLisle of Ripon College will serve as the Administrative Intern and Box Office Manager.

In addition to the two featured productions, Door Shakespeare offers a wide arrange of educational programming for all ages. The "Will-In-The-Woods" education series is comprised of weekly events including Family Nights, Pre Show Discussions, and a Shakespeare Study Group, which are all free to the public. Door Shakespeare will also continue to offer the Doorways: Creating Theatre for Children program during the weeks of July 20-24 and August 3-7.

Performances of Romeo and Juliet, sponsored by The Spa at Sacred Grounds in Ephraim will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00pm and Saturdays at 8:30pm. The Tempest, sponsored by Associated Bank and Saris Cycling Group, will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm and Saturdays at 5pm. General admission tickets are $27 for adults, $17 for students with a valid ID, and $7 for children under 12. All prices include tax and seating is general admission.
