After over a year of being shuttered due to COVID-19, Perseverance Theatre is reopening its doors and returning to live, in-person theatre in the fall. National and local health and safety guidelines will be in place.
It's the Alaska Native Scrooge you've never seen before! Tlingit and Dena'ina playwright Vera Starbard, known for the Peabody Award-winning children's animated program Molly of Denali and stage productions like last year's Devilfish has penned a modern take on the classic Dickens Christmas tale. Perseverance Theatre presents the online production of A Tlingit Christmas Carol as a gift to the community that has supported it for so long.
A Tlingit Christmas Carol by Vera Starbard will be released in streamed staves at 7 p.m. on November 27, December 4, 11, & 18, and at 10 a.m. on December 25, Christmas Day. After they are released, all staves will be available on demand through Russian Orthodox Christmas, Thursday, January 7.
On September 1, Perseverance Theatre announced its lineup for the Fall 2020 Season, and like most of their offerings will be, the announcement was made via live-stream.
Perseverance Theatre announces that Art Rotch, who has served as the organization's Artistic Director since 2008, and first came to Juneau to work at Perseverance in 1988, will transition out of his role as Artistic Director this summer.
An innocent bloomer blunder brings domestic chaos in Steve Martin's The Underpants, Perseverance Theatre's 40th anniversary season finale, running May 17-June 16.
