John Steinbeck adapted his novel of the same name. It premiered on Broadway in 1937 and earned the 1938 New York Drama Critics' Circle Best Play. A poignant tragedy centers around two migrant field hands, the average-looking but smart ‘George’ and the strong but mentally-challenged ‘Lennie’ who land work on a farm in California during the Great Depression.
