Madama Butterfly at Crosby Theatre, Santa Fe Opera

A revival of the 2010 production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, originally conceived by Lee Blakeley and revived by director Melanie Bacaling in her Santa Fe Opera main stage directorial debut. The production features scenic design by Jean-Marc Puissant, costumes by Brigitte Reiffenstuel, and lighting by Rick Fisher, blending tradition with emotional depth. Conductor John Fiore leads an international cast including Karen Chia-ling Ho as Cio-Cio-San, Stephen Costello as Pinkerton, Sun-Ly Pierce as Suzuki, and Jarrett Ott as Sharpless, with Jonathan Burton taking the role of Pinkerton for the final two performances. The opera is sung in Italian with titles in English and Spanish and runs approximately 2 hours 44 minutes including a 25-minute intermission.
