Circle Mirror Transformation five participants in a community center acting class get less and more than they bargained for when they are pushed beyond their comfort zones to participate in a series of acting exercises ranging from mundane to nonsensical to hilarious. When the artificial interactions shake loose the disparate aspirations of these budding actors, the result is a beautiful, tragic, and ultimately hopeful alchemy of human wishes and desires.
Playwright Annie Baker is a master of naturalistic dialogue and nonverbal communication and to enhance the audience’s experience of this play, specially-arranged and limited seating will bring the audience onto the stage itself and within a few feet of the actors. The show’s running time is an hour and forty-five minutes, and there is no intermission.
