SAG-AFTRA Merger Endorsed by Actors' Equity, Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists

Reuters reports that the Actors' Equity Association has given its approval for a proposed merger between the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. According to Reuters, Actors' Equity made the approval official on Tuesday.
"The union's council unanimously voted to endorse the merger Tuesday."
“AEA strongly supports SAG and AFTRA in their proposal to merge their Unions,” the AEA said.
The merger has had opposition from Martin Sheen, Scott Bakula and others. The merger will become official if and when "60 percent of voting members of each union approve the proposal." Voting will happen between February 27 and March 30.
