On Thursday 16 August 2012, War Horse's Joey delighted hundreds of children with a special surprise appearance on stage at the New London Theatre alongside the award-winning former Children's Laureate Michael Morpurgo.

The celebrated playwright and author was reading extracts from his beloved novel War Horse and other works, as well as taking part in a Question and Answer session with the children, as part of Kids Week.

Now in its 15th year and run by the Society of London Theatre, Kids Week is all about encouraging young people to experience the magic of live theatre. Activities during Kids Week include a Mamma Mia! song and dance workshop, a tea party with The Tiger Who Came To Tea and a chance to meet the puppets from Disney's The Lion King.

During Kids Week a child aged 16 or under can go free to participating shows when accompanied by an adult paying full price. Up to two extra children’s tickets can be purchased at half price. There are still many tickets available until the end of August - to book visit www.kidsweek.co.uk or telephone 0844 248 5151 (no booking/postal fees apply).
