 Newly created, under artistic director Jonathan Kent, The Theatre Royal Haymarket's new West End season has been confirmed

The Theatre Royal Haymarket has played host to the best actors, writers and directors for almost three centuries. 

The Theatre Royal Haymarket Company has been created to display the work of our most exciting contemporary artists, initially with three productions by the acclaimed opera and theatre director Jonathan Kent. 

The Season commences from 27 September 2007 and lasts until 12 January 2008

The Country Wife A Comedy 
By William Wycherley 
 
One of the greatest and funniest comedies of the Restoration, The Country Wife tells the story of Horner, a notorious and lascivious man - about - town and his ingenious scheme for the rampant and mass seduction of the women of London society. By spreading the false rumour of his own impotence, he gains the sympathy of the husbands of the town and, more importantly, free access to their wives.  
 
Meanwhile the newly-married Pinchwife desperately attempts to keep his naïve country bride from the  
clutches of predatory London bachelors. When she and Horner meet, events spiral out of his control… 
 
Award-winning actors
David Haig, Patricia Hodge and Toby Stephens lead the company in Wycherley's  
dazzling comedy. Joining them is exciting young actress Fiona Glascott in the title role.

The Sea A Comedy

A wild storm shakes a small East Anglian seaside village and sets off a series of events that changes the lives of  all its residents. Set in the high Edwardian world of 1907, The Sea is a fascinating blend of wild farce, high comedy, biting social satire and bleak poetic tragedy. 
 
Edward Bond is recognised as one of the major figures of contemporary British theatre. He has written over 40 plays, including Early Morning, Bingo, The Fool, Lear and Saved, which are performed all over Europe. His screenplays include Laughter in the Dark, Walkabout and Blow-up.  
 
Eileen Atkins, one of this country's greatest actresses will lead the cast of The Sea with David Haig. Her theatre credits include Honour for The National Theatre, Proof on Broadway, A Delicate Balance for the Haymarket, and most recently There Came a Gypsy Riding at The Almeida Theatre
 
 
6 May – 1 November 2008 
Marguerite The World Premiere of a New Musical  
 
A love story set in Paris during the Second World War, Marguerite draws inspiration from one of the greatest of romantic novels, La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas. Marguerite is the beautiful and notorious mistress of a high ranking German officer. Armand is a young musician half her age who falls obsessively in love with her. Their dangerous love story is played out against the background of Occupied Paris. 
 
Marguerite will be the World Premiere of a collaboration between
Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg (Les Misérables, Miss Saigon and Martin Guerre) and the Oscar award-winning musical legend Michel Legrand and lyricist Herbert Kretzmer (Les Misérables). 
 
Ruthie Henshall, the award-winning West End and Broadway actress returns to the London stage to play the title role.
