Red Bull Theater and Art Lab Productions presented the first major New York presentation of Maltby & Shire’s new musical, The Country Wife on Monday December 11th at the Peter Norton Symphony Space. RED BULL THEATER has announced details of its plans for 2024, celebrating its 20th Anniversary. Highlights include the rolling world premiere of Medea: Re-Versed opening Off-Broadway; a new season of OBIE Award-winning Revelation Readings with an all-star line-up (offered both in-person and online); and an all-new season of the popular Red Bull Theater Podcasts (formerly known as RemarkaBULL Podversations), intimate behind the scenes conversations with great artists.

The Atlanta Shakespeare Company at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse is set to present William Wycherley’s Restoration comedy, The Country Wife from April 16th through May 1, 2022. Tickets for the production, which is directed by John Ammerman, are $15 for the General Admission preview on Thursday, April 14th, and $20 for the General Admission preview on Friday, April 15th.

An all-star cast has assembled for an online reading of William Wycherley's 1671 comedy Love in a Wood, presented by Jermyn Street Theatre, conceived and directed by Hermione Gulliford, and performed in aid of Equity Charitable Trust.

The University of Hawai'i at Manoa's Department of Theatre and Dance and Kennedy Theatre are proud to present The Country Wife by William Wycherley. Directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre, Stacy Ray, this comedy of manners written in 17th century England is known for its outrageous characters, bawdiness, and satirical, sometimes farcical, view of sexuality and marriage. This quick, fun, and shameless production runs April 24, 25, 26, and 27 at 7:30 p.m., and April 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre; a free post-show rap will follow the April 26 performance. ArtsEmerson, Boston's leading presenter of contemporary world theatre, proudly welcomes Cheek by Jowl (UK) and The Pushkin Theatre Moscow (Russia) with Measure for Measure. This production of Shakespeare's play by the international award-winning director Declan Donnellan and designer Nick Ormerod asks vital and unsettling questions about how we are governed and, in the process, unmasks the true nature of authority, love and justice. Further casting is announced today for Festival 2018 at Chichester Festival Theatre. Clive Rowe joins Matt Lucas, Caroline Quentin and Alex Young to lead the cast of the musical ME AND MY GIRL, which Daniel Evans directs at the Festival Theatre from 2 July - 25 August. Clive will play Sir John Tremayne, returning to Chichester following his appearance in Kiss Me Kate in 2012 which later transferred to The Old Vic.

Director Luke Fredericks gives a new spin to William Wycherley's salacious comedy The Country Wife, taking it from its original Restoration setting to the crackling Roaring 20s. Sprinkled with anachronistic nudges, shirtless scenes, and a luxurious set and costume design by Stewart Charlesworth, the show has plenty of different kinds of eye-candy.

Working on William Wycherley's The Country Wife for its forthcoming production at Southwark Playhouse has revealed much about attitudes to sex, to gender equality, to social behaviour and to class. This is from a text written in 1675, but with themes that fill our broadsheets and tabloids. The recent #MeToo campaign and the blatant misogyny and gender imbalance with regards equality are, quite rightly, at the forefront of the news.
