Butterworth and Rickson, the team behind the Mark Rylance-led Jerusalem, are not giving much information about The River's plot. The Royal Court blurb says about the play that it is set on "a remote cabin on the cliffs" and features "a man and a woman and a moonless night." Tickets will not even go on sale until the day of the first performance.

Raison, known for her role in BBC One's Spooks, has played Anne Boleyn at Shakespeare's Globe and appeared in Donmar Warehouse's The Physicists. Her film credits include Match Point and Land of the Blind.
