Kids Week, London theatre's annual initiative for children, has shown that families are keener than ever to factor in a trip to the West End this summer, with over 100,000 tickets already snapped up.

Julian Bird, Chief Executive of SOLT said, "The sales for Kids Week are incredible - and we would like to thank the many shows that have once again supported this annual initiative to enable children to enjoy the theatre in the month of August. More tickets are now on sale, so please check the website for availability."

Now in its 16th year, run by the Society of London Theatre and supported by Ticketmaster, Kids Week is all about encouraging young people to experience the magic of live theatre.

Chris Edmonds, Chairman of Ticketmaster UK commented: "We are very proud to support Kids Week and it is fantastic to see ticket sales over 100,000 achieved so far. It's great to know that so many young people will be getting into the theatre this summer."

During Kids Week (1-31 August) a child aged 16 or under can go free to participating shows when accompanied by an adult paying full price. Up to two extra children's tickets can be purchased at half price. Kids Week also has a fantastic range of free activities and events such as Q&As with the stars, song and dance workshops on stage and a peek behind the scenes to see how the magic happens.

Whilst tickets for certain shows were snapped up quickly, plenty more tickets are still available for shows including A Chorus Line, Horrible Histories - Barmy Britain, Let It Be, One Man, Two Guvnors, Monty Python's Spamalot, The Bodyguard, Top Hat, We Will Rock You, Wicked andWe're Going On A Bear Hunt (the latter is aimed at the under 5's).

There is also good availability for the following shows aimed at 15 years of age and over - Fences, Once, Rock of Ages and Jersey Boys.
