A memorial performance of Verdi's Requiem will take place at Investec Opera Holland Park (OHP) on Tuesday 1 August 2017, to support those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. All proceeds will go to the Rugby Portobello Trust (RPT), which has been working closely with victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy and with which OHP has a long association. Tickets are on sale from today, priced at £35, £25 and £20. They can be purchased online or by telephone and donations can also be made online.

OHP has been inundated with artists offering to donate their services since it announced plans for a fundraising concert two weeks ago. The star line-up is confirmed as follows: Anne Sophie Duprels (soprano), Yvonne Howard (mezzo-soprano), NeAl Cooper (tenor) and Barnaby Rea (bass), with the Opera Holland Park Chorus (including OHP principals and guest artists), the City of London Sinfonia and conductors SIan Edwards and Peter Robinson.

Based just a mile from the Grenfell Tower, OHP has been profoundly affected by the tragedy. Several of OHP's staff are, and historically have been, residents of North Kensington, and one much-loved member of staff who was a Grenfell resident is currently missing.

Since the disaster, OHP has been collecting at the theatre for those affected. This money has been donated to the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation for distribution, with all funds going directly to those in need.

In a joint statement, James Clutton (Director of Opera) and Michael Volpe (General Director) said:

"The best way we know to commemorate and help the victims of this disaster is to make music and so that is what we will do. There has been a lot of emotion in the company since the events of that day, and our friend and colleague is mourned deeply. The RPT deserve respect and admiration for everything they have been doing in the aftermath and we hope this event will provide the funds to help them continue their work in supporting the community."
