One Night Only is a reality docu-soap that follows a group of eight high school kids and their drama teacher in New Orleans as they race to mount the Dreamgirls musical. Within the tragedy of Hurrican Katrina, the cast members are rebuilding their homes, school, and community while also trying to enjoy their teenage years. The six part series features guest appearances from actor Blair Underwood, celebrity couple Duane Martin and Tisha Campbell Martin, 2006 American Idol finalist Paris Bennett, Tony Award-winning choreographer George Faison, TLC host and celebrity makeup artist Damone Roberts and, of course, from the Motion Picture of Dreamgirls - Effie herself, Jennifer Hudson.In episode 5 (airing February 20th - check local listings for time and channel in your area) production notes state "Everyone knows the show-stopping number in Dreamgirls is "And I Am Telling You." Everyone knows it, including Chrishira. She's not having stage fright or missing lyrics - what's missing from her rendition is emotion. The kind of emotion that brings an audience to their feet. When George realizes this is crucial to this musical's success, he brings in an expert to help Chrissy: Jennifer Hudson. From one Effie to another, Jennifer helps Chrissy to find the raw emotion so necessary in her peformance.
