Theatre Renegade will be holding a book launch and performance of its next installment of their Courting Drama series this Saturday, November 23 at the Bush Theatre.

PERFORMANCE

Theatre Renegade is proud the fourth installment of their Courting Drama series. As with the preceding installment, due to the success of the series the theatre will now be holding two performances (with astrictly limited capacity).

Courting Drama is a chance to see new material from eight Fresh and exciting writers and directors, with a new selection of creatives taking part every four months. The process starts with a group of writers and directors speed dating to find a new collaborative partner that will help them bring a short piece of new writing to life. Those new partnerships and the pieces they create and mould together over a three-week period are then performed live for audiences.

For their next installment, Theatre Renegade will be working with a whole new cohort. Creative collaborations include Boy by playwright Nathan Wood and directed by Jessica Edwards, The Iguanadon Queen by playwright Vinay Patel and directed by Sophie Lifschutz, Taming Taliban by playwright Anna Jordan and directed by Josh Roche and The Colouring Book by playwright Sandy Nicholson and directed by India Maclennan. Theatre Renegade also held a competition amongst Ideas Tap members to create a fifth piece for the installment. The chosen piece, A Deafening Silence, by playwright ella Carmen Greenhill, will be directed by Theatre Renegade Artistic Director Ryan Forde Iosco, and will be performed on the night amongst the remaining four pieces.

Previous writers and directors involved in Courting Drama have worked with/are working with companies such as: The Hampstead Theatre, Bush Theatre, Hightide, National Theatre, the Lowry, Royal Court Theatre, Young vic Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, and Punchdrunk.

the Bush Theatre: 7 Uxbridge Road, W12 8LJ London, UK

All plays are handpicked from the theatre's first three installments of the Courting Drama series. The process starts with a group of writers and directors speed dating to find a new collaborative partner to help them bring a twenty-minute piece of new writing to life. Those new partnerships and the pieces they create and mould together over a three-week period are then performed at The Bush Theatre.

The Courting Drama Anthology, Volume 1, is a provocative selection of plays putting new writing at the forefront. "Old Fools," written by Tristan Bernays, follows the different stages of a couple's relationship as one of them suffers with Alzheimer's. James Hamilton's "Conk the Dyslexia Goblin" tells the story of a man suffering at the hand of an imaginary and mischievous goblin, Conk. In "Extinct," written by Jamie Biddle, a couple battles over more than just their marriage after being visited by a creature from the great beyond. Phoebe Eclair-Powell's "Bangin' Wolves," takes on the story surrounding a group of sex-charged teenagers on a sun soaked holiday. Finally, Sam H. Freeman's "Scarlet" follows the story of a young girl, her relationship with sex and her growing understanding of how her sexual decisions affect her life.

Volume 1 of Courting Drama can soon be found in bookstores across the UK, including Foyles and Samuel French.
