SLINGSHOT THEATRE presents the world premiere and national tour of a brand new comic play for the festive season, the story of the greatest birth on earth! The tour runs now through December 24, 2013.

NATIVITY IN CREAKEBOTTOM, written by Christopher Dennis and directed by Andrew C. Wadsworth, features music by Mark Dean. The cast stars Christopher Dennis, David Blackwell, Francesca Binefa, Kiel O'Shea and Sam Davies.

Following their acclaimed debut show, The Zanniskinheads and the Quest for the Holy Balls (Edinburgh Fringe and national tour), Slingshot Theatre focus their surreal eyes and quick-witted physical comedy on the greatest birth EVER!

This new comic play for the festive season is filled with laughs, slapstick and ridiculous musical treats and offers an alternative experience to the traditional Christmas panto. Turns out, the greatest story ever told is a rich source just waiting to be plundered for seasonal comedy!

Nativity in Creakebottom is directed by West End veteran Andrew C. Wadsworth whose numerous credits include appearances in West End musicals, National Theatre, RSC and a nomination for the Olivier awards for best actor in a musical. The original music score is composed by the highly acclaimed Mark Dean of theatre company Strangeface. The script is by up-and-coming writer Christopher Dennis and a wildly energetic cast of talented actors will bring this Nativity to life.

The humble village of Creakebottom can be found in the golden, flat and technologically dated lands of deepest Suffolk, and is home to the All-Male Amateur Dramatics Society of Creakebottom, aka The AMADSC! After catching wind of a new Theatre Festival coming to the region, the troupe spy an unprecedented platform for their immaculate theatrical concept.

While God may be on their side, talent is not. Founder Gus Blathermouth believes firmly in a totalitarian leadership, Cornelius Hack is plotting a rebellion, Wesley Biggins¹ has the backbone of a processed sausage, Stibby Blot has the IQ of a cow pat, and new recruit Michael Outwit holds a secret which could divide the thespians for good. Amidst the chaos, The Players must unite to see Christ born in Creakebottom.

Inspired by England¹s Medieval Mystery plays with a nod to Shakespeare¹s ŒRude Mechanicals¹, the show was developed by a grant from the Christian Arts Trust, and through support from G-Live, Guildford, the Guildford School of Acting and the Coign Church, Woking. The show will tour to theatres, arts houses, schools and churches across the Winter season, ending with a charity performance at the Crisis at Christmas Skylight base in London. This show is the perfect winter warmer to kick-start Christmas, and suitable for anyone over the age of 10.

Slingshot Theatre is a young emerging company, established in 2010 to produce exciting, dynamic, unpredictable and memorable new theatre through releasing the creative power and vigorous energy of the actor. We seek to innovate and invent, to go beyond the expectations of our audience and to re-ignite a passion for Live Theatre in the UK. Our buzzwords are physical comedy, mask, improvisation and new writing.

We tour our productions across the UK to both arts houses and community venues, aiming not exclusively, but especially at 14-19 year olds, otherwise known as Œthe deserted demographic¹. Out of our goal of performance springs our educational workshops for young people and laboratories for theatre professionals in our foundational discipline, the Commedia dell¹ Arte.
