A world obsessed with wealth and fame. Riots on the streets. A morally bankrupt government. Does nothing ever change? A corrupt universe where the desire for justice is confused with the obsession for revenge. A blackly comic and brutally vivid retelling of the classic revenge drama. Join us for an orgy of power struggles, popularity contests and Bunga Bunga parties... The Revenger's Tragedy is a ferociously dark play by Thomas Middleton, set in an avaricious world that seethes with vice and retribution. Set in the 1980's the play examines a broken society, corrupted from the top-down, where sex, money and fame is what drives people to action in a time of economic inequality, famine and industrial disasters. The play is a black comedy and contains scenes of a sexual and violent nature.

The cast for The Revenger's Tragedy is as follows: Mark Field (Vindici), Steve Fortune (Duke), Nicholas Kime (Castiza), Jack Morris (Lussurioso), Christine Oram (Duchess) and Henry Regan (Hippolito).

This is the first production Nicholas Thompson has directed for the Old Red Lion Theatre.
His previous credits as an actor, director and producer include, Lady Chatterley's Lover (Edinburgh Fringe Festival - Critics Choice); La Dispute (Soho Theatre studio); Romeo and Juliet (National Tour); The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) (longest running off West End comedy play and nominated for Best Entertainment at the Off West End Theatre Awards 2012); Finalist REDfest 2011; Chaika Casino (nominated for several Off West End Awards); A Christmas Carol (Theatre Delicatessen); And Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out (Brighton Fringe- Pick of the Fringe).

Nicholas joined the Old Red Lion Theatre in September 2010 as Associate Producer and became Co-Artistic director in April 2011. He is also the Artistic Director of .dash Theatre, as well as working with Theatre Delicatessen, ITV Productions, BBC Introducing and Kangaroo Court.

The Old Red Lion Theatre opened its doors more than 30 years ago and its mission is to nurture and present the very best of new and emerging theatrical talent, with writers of earlier productions including Kathy Burke, Abi Morgan and Katie Mitchell. In the last six months the Old Red Lion Theatre has transferred work Off-Broadway and twice to the West End. The Old Red Lion Theatre is owned and run by Damien Devine.
