Panto Day has announced that the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) is to be its official Panto Day 2014 partner.

Founded in 2011, 2014's Panto Day will take place on Friday 12th December and is a day to celebrate the UK's most beloved artform. 2013's celebrations saw 2 million Twitter users and over 150 theatres participate in the annual event and this year even more people are hoped to get involved.

With 2,227 society and associate members, 1,072 individual and joint members and 6 corporate members, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association supports and encourages the UK's vibrant amateur theatre scene. By teaming up for 2014's Panto Day, Panto Day and NODA hope to create the biggest celebrations to date.

Founder and co-ordinator of Panto Day, Simon Sladen said:

"This is set to be an exciting year for Panto Day as we team up with NODA to embrace pantomime across the UK in its many forms. The heart of a community at Christmas, pantomime brings people together and we can't wait to hear from NODA's members and learn more about the myriad of practices occurring in halls, schools and theatres each festive season."

One of the partnership's key outputs will be a national survey of amateur pantomime to run alongside the National Database of Pantomime Performance's yearly statistics. Amateur dramatic societies will be invited to fill in an online questionnaire about their production at www.celebratepanto.co.uk with the results made available on Panto Day and compared with those of the National Database of Pantomime Performance to provide the first ever comparison between the amateur and professional sector.
