Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse have appointed Mark Da Vanzo to the newly-created role of Managing Director. Da Vanzo joins the theatres from Pitlochry Festival Theatre and will work closely with the joint CEOs Executive Director Deborah Aydon and Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz.

Da Vanzo's role will encompass day-to-day operational and administrative management of the Everyman & Playhouse and he will be responsible for developing the theatres' burgeoning events and hires business along with the food and drink offer.

New Zealander Da Vanzo studied theatre and film at the Victoria University of Wellington and brings a wealth of experience in commercial and subsidised arts along with experience in policy-making organisations.

He was TV Operations Manager for the Walt Disney Company in London and Head of Business for Arts & Business London, before returning to New Zealand to work at Creative New Zealand, during which time he was Private Secretary for Arts, Culture and Heritage in the New Zealand Parliament.

Da Vanzo was based in Wellington New Zealand for four years working for Creative New Zealand, before becoming Deputy Chief Executive at Pitlochry Festival Theatre in Scotland in 2012.

Everyman & Playhouse Executive Director Deborah Aydon said: "At such a busy and exciting time, we are delighted to have recruited someone of Mark's calibre and experience to join the team and help propel the theatres forward."

Mark Da Vanzo said: "I am delighted to be joining the Everyman & Playhouse at this pivotal time in the organisation's history as it looks to launch both the Everyman Repertory Company and Playhouse Residencies".
