As theatres across the UK prepare to commemorate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death, Coventry's Belgrade Theatre is thrilled to announce the return of all-male theatre company Propeller in 2016 with their stunning adaptation of Shakespeare's funniest and most magical play, A Midsummer Night's Dream from Thurs 4 - Sat 6 Feb.

This sixty minute version of Propeller's award-winning production of A Midsummer Night's Dream has been especially devised and adapted for young audiences and is the ideal introduction not only to Shakespeare, but to the thrill and excitement of theatre.

Under Edward Hall's direction, Propeller combines a rigorous approach to the text with a physical aesthetic creating a production full of clarity, poetry, humour and imagination, with a little bit of magic thrown in.

After a gripping hour of theatre, audiences are invited into the performance space to question the actors about the play, acting, Shakespeare, in fact, anything that comes to mind.

Previous visits by Propeller to the Belgrade include Richard III, Henry V, A Winter's Tale, Comedy of Errors, A Midsummer Night's Dreamand most recently, Pocket Merchant in 2014.

Full of energy, humour and music, shot through with a wit and intelligence that sweeps audiences off their feet, this 60-minute staging of one of Shakespeare's best-loved comedies promises to be a theatrical highlight of Spring 2016.

"One of the best and most exciting productions of

this great play I have seen, ever."

The Sunday Times

Director Edward Hall, said, 'We want to rediscover Shakespeare simply by doing the plays as we believe they should be done: with great clarity, speed and full of as much imagination in the staging as possible. We don't want to make the plays 'accessible', as this implies that they need 'dumbing down' in order to be understood, which they don't. We want to continue to take our work to as many different kinds of audiences as possible. The performances are enormously satisfying as they give me an opportunity to engage a young audience who have not necessarily seen Shakespeare before and perhaps not even been to the theatre.'

Pocket Dream runs on the Main Stage from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 February and tickets cost from just £11.50, with children's tickets from £7.50 and Family Tickets (2 adults 2 kids) from £32.
