The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza presents TAO: Phoenix Rising at the Fred Kavli Theatre on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.

This powerful, dynamic and unique show features Taiko drumming and innovative choreography in a performance that combines extraordinary precision, energy and stamina. Pulse-pounding rhythms emanate from the percussion instruments featured in this performance - everything from tiny bells to huge drums. Combine the heart stopping beats with giant props, precision movement, dramatic lighting and nonstop action and you have any evening of pure adrenaline.

The stars of TAO live and train in the mountains of Japan, reaching the highest level of virtuosity after years of intense training before taking the stage. The performers each bring nontraditional flair to the group by drawing on their diverse backgrounds: one as a hard rock musician, another as a gymnast and yet another as a composer. They offer a young and vibrantly modern take on a traditional art form. "Extraordinarily talented...incomparable muscular zeal" says the Chicago Tribune.

This new production for North American audiences has critics celebrating the combination of traditional and modern art forms in a spectacular stage show. With hundreds of sold-out shows and more than a million spectators, TAO has proven that modern entertainment based on the traditional art of Japanese drumming, has a massive international appeal.

Single tickets are priced at $54-$30 with group discounts available. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or through the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Box Office, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard.
