Theater Works presents the Tony Award-winning musical CITY OF ANGELS, beginning Friday, February 19. Set in glamorous, seductive 1940's Hollywood. CITY OF ANGELS tells the story about a disillusioned writer and his screenplay. Is it the movie detective who is forever haunted by the one who got away -- or is it his author? A swinging jazz score brings this clash of silver screen fantasy and Hollywood reality to vivid life. CITY OF ANGELS will be on the Gyder Stage through March 6.

City of Angles is set in the glamorous, seductive Hollywood of the 40's and the world of film studios. It chronicles the misadventures of Stine, a young novelist, attempting a screenplay for movie producer/director, Buddy Fidler.

Its creators certainly had Show Biz credentials. CITY OF ANGELS was written by Larry Gelbart (creator of the TV version of M*A*S*H), with Lyrics by David Zippel, and was composed in a jazzy, contemporary style by Cy Coleman (Tony-winning composer of the scores for Sweet Charity, and The Will Rogers Follies).

The creative team from the triumphant 2015 production of Follies returns led by Director Phillip Fazio. Phillip currently lives and works as a freelance director in New York City. Arizona directing credits include Follies and Ragtime at Theater Works, The Quiltmaker's Gift and Alice in Wonderland at Phoenix Theatre. Fazio will be leading Ian Christiansen as the ambitious writer Stine, Matt Zimmerer as the sly Detective Stone and Sarah Wolter as the seductive Alaura Kingsley. Steve Hilderbrand is taking the baton as Musical Director.

Theater Works concludes the MasterWorks season with the comic Broadway sensation Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike opening on the Gyder stage April 8.
