Pink Martini, Denis O'Hare, Mario Cantone and More Join Scottsdale Center's 2013-14 Season

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts has added more than a dozen new performances to its star-studded 2013-14 season. Tickets for these new additions will go on sale Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. through www.ScottsdalePerformingArts.org or (480) 499-TKTS (8587).

Among the highlights will be concerts with the retro-hip, multilingual 'little orchestra' Pink Martini on Jan. 21 and Grammy Award-winning singer Aaron Neville on March 22; actor Denis O'Hare (HBO's True Blood) performing An Iliad, a one-man show based on Homer's epic about the Trojan War, on April 3-4; and a night of irreverent stand-up with actor and comedian Mario Cantone (Sex and the City) on May 10.

The dance-inducing Pacific Mambo Orchestra featuring Tito Puente, Jr. will perform on Nov. 2 as part of La Gran Fiesta; Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko, the newest gold medalist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will make his Scottsdale debut as part of the Virginia G. Piper Concert Series on Feb. 16; Brazil's Mimulus will perform a night of sultry ballroom dancing and samba on March 4; and The Doo-Wop Project, featuring cast members of the Broadway smash hitJersey Boys, will return by popular demand on April 5.

Two more events will brighten up the holidays: An Oh So Acoustic Christmas with Javier Colon, Michael Grimm and Committed (first-place winners of NBC'sThe Voice, America's Got Talent and The Sing-Off, respectively) on Dec. 20; and a wildly fun subtitled screening of Sing-a-long-a Grease on Dec. 27-30.

Families with children will enjoy the interactive sketch comedy musical Story Pirates on Oct. 9; pianist Jeffrey Siegel performing kid-friendly classics in Music for the Young and Young at Heart on Nov. 23; and a toe-tapping concert with Alex & the Kaleidoscope Band on Feb. 22.

All of the Center's 2013-14 events are showcased in its newly published 45-page season guide, which may be viewed or downloaded through www.ScottsdalePerformingArts.org starting Aug. 17. Patrons also may request to receive a free printed copy of the guide by mail.

As part of its ongoing commitment to making the arts accessible, the nonprofit Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is introducing several new initiatives this season: Patrons 29 years and under will enjoy 50-percent off tickets to selected events, while students and veterans will enjoy free tickets to selected events. The Center will continue to offer a range of ticket prices for every budget, as well as discounts for members and package and group sales.

One of the premier performing-arts halls in the western United States, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts showcases a diverse season of dance, music, theater and film from around the world. More than 1,000 indoor and outdoor performances, educational programs, festivals and other events are presented and hosted at the Center each year serving approximately 250,000 participants and contributing substantially to Scottsdale's high quality of life and reputation as a vibrant arts destination.
